Reg Nelson has asked us to share an update on his condition, which we are pleased to do.

Reg said “My cancer has shrunk more than the surgeon anticipated and I can have the operation to remove it hopefully before Christmas.

I can’t thank the Woodlands community enough for their support and their insistence I remain positive. They have been an inspiration to me”.

18th November

Congratulations to Reg Nelson who picked up the Bradford Premier League’s highest award, Sir Leonard Hutton trophy yesterday at the league dinner.

Brad Schmulian won the players player for the 2nd consecutive year as well as the allrounder of the year. Brad also collected the award for topping the bowling averages too.

Muhammad Bilal won the fastest 50 award and Liam Collins won the 2nd team batting averages

 Champions of Yorkshire again.

In the final game of the season, the 1st team beat Sheffield Collegiate by 6 wkts to win the Yorkshire Premier League Play Off Final.


A good bowling performance restricted the South Yorkshire league champions to 76 all out with Muhammad Bilal taking 4 wkts and Brad Schmulian took 3 wkts.

In reply Tim Jackson finished 29 not out.8

Muhammad Bilal was named Man of the Match with figures of 4 for 38 & 23 runs.


10th September

The 1st team beat Saltburn by 6 wkts to progress to the Yorkshire Premier League play off final.
We restricted the hosts to 136 with Brad Schmulian taking 4 wkts and Muhammad Bilal taking 3.
In reply Sam Frankland top scored with 55 with Tim Jackson scoring 51.


The 2nd team beat Bankfoot by 8 wkts to finish 3rd in the league. Bankfoot were bowled out for 84 with James Sawyer taking 5 wkts. Harry Medcalf finished 46 not out to get the win.

Both sides recorded maximum point wins yesterday against Hanging Heaton.

The 1st team scored 251 with Kieran Collins top scoring with 101. Brad Schmulian scored 82 & Scott Richardson 33. Tom Clee took 4 wkts & Elliot Richardson took 3 to secure the win and finish the league campaign.


The 2nd team bowled the visitors out for 135 with Liam Collins taking 4 wkts and 3 each for Jack Bleazard and James Sawyer. In reply Nick Rushworth too scored with 53 & Liam Collins finished 40 not out to get is over the line.


3rd September

The 1st team were beaten by Farsley yesterday but secure the 7 pts required to win the league. Muhammad Bilal took 5 wkts and Brad Schmulian took 3. Brad top scored with 49. Kez Ahmed 29 proved vital to get the 2nd batting point we needed to secure the title for the 4th consecutive year.


The 2nd team beat Farsley by 140 runs. We scored 198 with Jack Bleazard top scoring with 87. Liam Collins scored 43 & Josh Griffin 33. Nathan Bromby took 5 wkts & Liam Collins took 4 wkts.


Today is the next round of the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League with the 1st team at Hanging Heaton and the 2nd team at home to the same opposition.

2nd September

28th August

 A day of mixed results yesterday as both games were affected by the weather.

The 1st team lost at Townville. We scored 231 with Kieran Collins top scoring with 64 and Tim Jackson scoring 50. The host reached their revised target of 137 for the loss of 4 wkts.

The 2nd team restricted Bowling Old Lane to 134 with Kieran Rodger taking 3 wkts. In reply we reached our revised target of 147 for the loss of 3 wkts with Jack Bleazard finishing 66 not out and Nick Rushworth scoring 32.


Congratulations to our U15s who beat Saltaire by 99 runs.

20th August

 The 1st team recorded a 6 wkt win and picked up 20 pts beating Jer Lane yesterday. The visitors were restricted to 179 with Brad Schmulian taking 4 wkts. In reply Brad top scored with 103 not out. Tom Clee added 39 to get us home.

The 2nd team lost to Jer Lane. The hosts scored 256 with James Sawyer taking 3 wkts. Harry Medcalf top scored with 42 & Liam Collins scored 32.

Today the 1st team play New Farnley in the Heavy Woollen Cup Final at Methley. Game starts at 12.

 Congratulations to our u15s team on reaching the cup final which will be played on 28 August at Cleckeaton 


14th August

 The 1st team lost in the Priestley Cup final yesterday. Batting first we scored 153 off of our 37 overs with Sam Frankland with 36. In reply Bradford & Bingley hit the target for the loss of 4 wkts. Muhammad Bilal taking 3 wkts 


13th August

 The 1st team beat Bankfoot by 7 wkts yesterday. The hosts were bowled out for 77 with Kez Ahmed taking 4 wkts and Brad Schmulian picking up 3 wkts. Muhammad Bilal top scored with 37 to secure 19 pts.

The 2nd team also beat Bankfoot by 10 wkts. The visitors were bowled out for 149. Liam Collins taking 4 wkts.
Nick Rushworth 86 not out and Harry Medcalf 61 not out got us home and pick up 20 pts.

Today the 1st team play Bradford & Bingley in the Gordon Rigg Priestley Cup Final at Pudsey Congs. Match starts at 12.


8th August

 The 1st team lost to Richmondshire in the ECB T20 Regional finals. We were bowled out for 125 with Kieran Collins top scoring with 41. Richmondshire finished 6 down.

The 2nd team lost to Methley in the Crowther Cup. The visitors scored 188. In reply Matty Long top scored with 46 and Rob Medcalf scored 38.


 

Thank you to the players, members and officials of the club who attended Reg Nelson’s mother’s funeral today.

Reg has emailed and said “I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Woodlands CC members who supported me at my mother’s funeral today. As you all know I am going through a torrid time fighting a serious illness, so in consequence every little piece of morale support is invaluable at this time. This just goes to prove what a fine community club this is and what an asset it is to the Bradford Premier League.”

 The 1st team managed to beat the weather and record a 20 pt win over Bradford & Bingley.  We bowled the visitors out for 80 with Brad Schmulian taking 5 wkts and Tom Clee taking 4.
Set a revised target of 77, Muhammad Bilal scored 60 not out off 17 balls to get the win inside 5 overs.

The 2nd team didnt beat the weather. We scored 178 with Liam Collins top scoring with 66 & Rob Medcalf scoring 30.
In reply the hosts were 18 for 4 when the game was abandoned with Joel Beaumont taking 3 wkts.

Today the 1st team are in the ECB area t20 finals at New Farnley where we play Richmondshire in the semi final. Game starts at 10.

The 2nd team are at home to Methley in the Crowther Cup. Game starts at 131st July

 The 1st team lost to Morley in the semi final of the t20 cup yesterday. Batting first we scored 95 off 12 overs. Brad Schmulian top scored with 39 not out. Morley were set a revised target of 109 which they achieved with 5 balls to spare.

The 2nd team beat Wakefield Thornes in the Crowther Cup. Nick Rushworth top scored with 125 not out. Josh Griffin scored 36.
The visitors were bowled out for 94 with Nathan Bromby & Cieran Garner taking 4 wkts each


30th July

 Both teams recorded wins yesterday, collecting the maximum 20 points each.

The 1st team beat Methley by 95 runs, having scored 290. Brad Schmulian top scored with 76 with other runs for Sam Frankland 55, Tim Jackson 53, Tom Clee 42 & Kieran Collins 33. Brad took 4 wkts and Kez Ahmed took 3 to secure the win.

The 2nd team won by 13 runs against Morley. We scored 230 with James Sawyer top scoring with 43 & Josh Griffin 31. The visitors were bowled out for 217 with James Sawyer taking 4 wkts.

Today the 1st team are in t20 action at Bradford & Bingley where we play Morley in the semi final starting at 10.00. If we are successful the final starts at 4.

The 2nd team are at home against Wakefield Thornes in the Crowther Cup. Game starts at 1.

23rd July

 Both games yesterday were abandoned without a ball being bowled as the weather beat us.

Today the 1st team are at home to New Farnley in the re-arranged Priestley Cup semi final. Game starts at 1.


 With no play possible in the semi final due to the weather, the game was decided by a bowl out. Brad Schmulian was the only one from either side to hit the stumps so we progress to the final 


17th July

Our Priestley cup semi final was abandoned yesterday after a heavy downpour. The visitors had posted 238 with Muhammad Bilal taking 3 wkts before proceedings were brought to an early finish.

16th July

 Both teams managed to beat the weather and records win yesterday. 

The 1st team beat Ossett by 156 runs. We scored 186 with Brad Schmulian top scoring with 87 & Tim Jackson also in the runs with 54. Muhammad Bilal took 7 wkts & Tom Clee took 3 to help us get the win.

The 2nd team beat Lightcliffe by 114 runs. Matty Long scored 88 & Liam Collins 51 as we scored 200.  A hat trick by James Sawyer helped us bowl the visitors out for 131 and pick up 19 pts.

Today the 1st team are at home to New Farnley in the Priestley Cup semi final. Game starts at 1.


12th July

 We beat East Bierley by 85 runs in our final t20 group game last night.

We scored 197 with Muhammad Bilal top scored with 81 & Liam Collins added 35. Liam then took 4 wkts as the hosts were bowled out for 112. We have now qualified for finals  day at Bradford & Bingley on 30 July


10th July

 The 1st team lost to Richmondshire in the ECB National Cup yesterday. We scored 206 off of our 40 overs with Tim Jackson top scoring with 63 & Kieran Collins adding 31.

In reply Richmondshire met their revised target of 127 for the loss of 3 wkts.


9th July

 Another day of mixed fortunes yesterday.
The 1st team were set a revised target of 114 off 21 over and chased it down to win by 1 wkt.

The 2nd team restricted the hosts to 153 off 26 overs with Liam Collins taking 4 wkts. Set a revised target of 188 we lost by 26 runs with Cieran Garner top scoring with 33.

Today the 1st team are at home to Richmondshire in the ECB National Cup.

 We beat Bankfoot by 89 runs in last night’s t20 game. We scored 208 with Tom Clee scoring 102 and Liam Collins 49. Liam then took 5 wkts as the hosts were bowled out for 119 


3rd July

 The 1st team have progressed to the Heavy Woollen cup final with a 237 run win over Beckwithshaw. 

We scored 326, Sam Frankland top scoring with 98 and other runs coming from Tom Clee 81, Brad Schmulian 39 & Tim Jackson 33. In reply, the visitors were bowled out for 89 with Brad picking up 5 wkts and Elliot Richardson taking 3.


2nd July

 Both teams recorded wins over Pudsey Congs yesterday with both taking maximum points.

The 1st team scored 283 with runs for Brad Schmulian 80 not out, Tim Jackson 63 & Sam Frankland 54. Brad took 6 wkts & Elliot Richardson took 3 wkts to help us win by 70 runs.

The 2nd team scored 376 with Liam Collins 128 not out, Matty Long 99 & Rob Medcalf 70 not out. Joel Beaumont took 3 wkts as we won by 227 runs.

Today the 1st team are at home to Beckwithshaw in the semi final of the Heavy Woollen cup. Game starts at 1.


28th June

 We beat Jer Lane by 18 runs last night thanks to Elliot Richardson 40 not out top scoring & 3 wkts for Jak Murphy. 


26th June

 The 1st team progressed to the Priestley Cup semi final beating Morley by 8 wickets. Kez Ahmed took 4 wkts & Tom Clee took 3.
In reply Sam Frankland top scored with 42 with Kieran Collins 33.

The 2nd lost to Lightcliffe on Duckworth Lewis in the Priestley Shield.
Jack Bleazard picked up 3 wkts and Cieran Garner 70 not out weren’t enough to get us home.


25th June

 Mixed fortunes again yesterday for the club. 

The 1st team beat Hanging Heaton by 56 runs and picked up 20 pts.
We scored 275 with Greg Finn 64 not out, Sam Frankland 55 & Elliot Richardson 36 top scorers. In reply the visitors were bowled out for 219 with Muhammad Bilal taking 4 wkts and Kez Ahmed taking 3.

The 2nd team lost to the same opposition having scored 235 with runs for Nick Rushworth 65 & Matty Long 45 with the runs.

Today the 1st team are at Home to Morley in the Priestley cup and the 2nd team are away at Lightcliffe in the Priestley Shield. Matchball sponsored by John & Pat Wharf. Both games start at 1.


23rd June

 We lost by 4 wkts to Bradford & Bingley opening t20 group game last night. Brad Schmulian top scored with 39 


19th June

 Day of mixed fortunes for the club yesterday. 

The 1st team progressed to the last 16 of the ECB National Cup with a 154 run win over Doncaster Town. We scored 258 with runs for Brad Schmulian 66, kieran Collins 48 & Tim Jackson 36.
In reply, our visitors were bowled out for 104 with Muhammad Bilal taking 5 wkts.

The 2nd team lost their re-arranged league game at Pudsey Congs by 20 runs on DLS. Pudsey scored 188 with 3 wkts each for Joel Beaumont & Ayan Zafar. We scored 101 before the rain came with Harry Medcalf top scoring with 31.


18th June

 Happy Father’s Day From WCC.


 Both teams recorded wins yesterday over Farsley.

The 1st team scored 262 with Brad Schmulian unbeaten on 117, Tim Jackson 45 & Scott Richardson 31. Kez Ahmed took 5 wkts with Muhammad Bilal taking 3 wkts as we won by 61 runs.

The 2nd team won by 18 runs. We scored 237 with Jack Bleazard 65, Harry Medcalf 48 & Cieran Garner 37 in the runs. 4 wkts for Cieran Garner led us to the win.

Today the 1st team are at home to Doncaster Town in the ECB National Cup. Game starts at 1.
The 2nd team are away at Pudsey Congs in a re-arranged league game. Game starts at 12.30


12th June

 The 1st team progressed in the Heavy Woollen cup with a 4 wkt win over Barnsley Woolley Miners.

Brad Schmulian took 5 wkts as we restricted the visitors to 148.

Sam Frankland top scored with 74 to lead us home.

We now face Beckwithshaw in the semi final.


11th June

 Both teams won and scored maximum points yesterday.

The 1st team scored 290 against Townville with Tim Jackson top scoring with 77, Muhammad Bilal 44, Sam Frankland 43 Brad Schmulian 41 were also in the runs. In reply, Kez Ahmed took 4 wkts and 3 wkts for Muhammad Bilal helped us win by 91 runs.

The 2nd team scored 231 with Nick Rushworth too scoring with 64, with other runs for Matty Long 30, Cieran Garner 30 & Rob Medcalf 30. In reply Joel Beaumont took 4 wkts to help us win by 140 and secure the 20 points.

Today, the 1st team are at home to Barnsley Woolley Miners in the Heavy Woollen cup. Matchball sponsored by Barry Ashcroft.

5th June

 The 1st team progressed in the Gordon Rigg Priestley Cup yesterday with a 113 run win over Jer Lane. Brad Schmulian top scored with 84, Tom Clee 43, Muhammad Bilal 38 & Tim Jackson 30 helped us score 291. 

In reply, 3 wkts each for Kez Ahmed & Brad Schmulian helped Jer Lane be bowled out for 178.


4th June

 Mixed fortunes for us yesterday.
The 1st team fell just short of their run chase against Jer Lane. Brad Schmulian took 3 wkts as the home team posted 235.
In reply, Brad 56, Greg Finn 52 not out, kieran Collins 33 & Tim Jackson 32 couldn’t get us home.

The 2nd team chased down 244 with Jak Murphy 69 not out, Matty Long 40 & Nick Rushworth 34, leading us home.

Today the 1st team are at home to Jer Lane in the Priestley cup.

3rd June 

 The next round of the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League is today with the 1st team away at Jer Lane and the 2nd team at home to the same opposition.

Both games start at 12.30.


30th May

The 1st team made it 3 wins out of 3 over the bank holiday weekend when the beat Bankfoot yesterday by 10 wkts. Tom Clee took 4 wkts and Elliot Richardson took 3 wkts which restricted our visitors to 71.

Tim Jackson 40 not out & Sam Frankland 30 not out led us to the win.


29th May

The 1st team progressed in the ECB National Cup yesterday with a 145 run win over Woodhouse Grange. We posted 291 off of our 40 overs with Brad Schmulian 110 not out, Sam Frankland 63, Tom Clee 40 & Muhammad Bilal 31 our main scorers. Kez Ahmed & Muhammad Bilal both picking up 4 wkts.

Today is the next round of the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League with the 1st team at home to Bankfoot. Matchball sponsored by Jason Wharf.

Both teams recorded wins yesterday with each team picking up 19 pts.
The 1st team beat Bradford & Bingley by 3 wkts. 5 wkts for Chris Brice and 3 for Muhammad Bilal helped restrict the hosts to 221. Kieran Collins 52 & Brad Schmulian 36 led the chase.

The 2nd team chased Batleys 232 to win by 6 wkts.
Nathan Bromby took 5 wkts. In our reply Matty Long 89, Cieran Garner 55 & Jak Murphy 32 not out secured the win.

Today the 1st team are at home to Woodhouse Grange in the ECB National Cup. Game starts at 1pm.

The 2nd team progressed in the Priestley Shield yesterday. Pudsey St Lawrence posted 242 off their 40 overs with 3 wkts for Cieran Garner 

We chased it down with 4 balls to spare to win by 4 wkts. Matty Long 91, Jack Bleazard 61 & Rob Medcalf 44 not out led us home.

The 1st picked up 20 points with 205 run win over Methley. Brad Schmulian top scored with 106, with other runs for Tom Clee 52 not out, Sam Frankland 51, & Greg Finn 39.

The 2nd team lost by 1 run at Morley. 4 wkts for Kieran Rodger helped restrict Morley to 187. Rob Medcalf 59 & Harry Medcalf 33 led the reply.

The 1st team progressed in the ECB National Cup with a 6 wkt win over Sessay. 4 wkts for Brad Schmulian & 3 for Muhammad Bilal restricted the visitors to 158. In reply 62 for Tim Jackson 36 not out for Brad secured the win.

The 2nd team also progressed in the Crowther Cup with a 38 run win against New Farnley. We scored 163 with Jack Bleazard scoring 83 not out. 3 wkts each for Joel Beaumont & Nathan Bromby led us to the win


14th May

Both teams recorded victories against New Farnley yesterday. 

The 1st team picked up 17 pts, batting first we scored 162 with Sam Frankland scoring 50. Our hosts were bowled out for 140 with Tom Clee taking 4 wkt and 3 each for Brad Schmulian & Muhammad Bilal 

The 2nd team picked up 20 pts, restricting the visitors to 153 with 3 wkts for Josh Griffin. In reply Jack Bleazard top scored with 47 as we won by 5 wkts.

Today sees both teams in action again with the 1st team at home to Sessay in the ECB National Cup and the 2nd team away at New Farnley in the Crowther Cup.

The next round of the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League is today with the 1st team away at New Farnley.

Our reward for beating Pudsey Congs in the Heavy Woollen cup is a home tie with Barnsley Woolley Miners. 


8th May

Both teams progressed in their cup ties yesterday.
In the Heavy Woollen cup the 1st team scored 339 with runs for Muhammad Bilal 74 not out Tom Clee 73 Brad Schmulian 72 Tim Jackson 59 Kieran Collins 36 to help us win by 141 runs.

In the Priestley Shield the 2nd team won by 3 wickets having restricted Hartshead Moor to 81 for 9 with 4 wickets for Rob Medcalf and 3 for Kieran  Rodger


7th May

Both teams managed to beat the weather yesterday.

The 1st team got 18 points restricting Osset to 144. Brad Schmulian taking 5 wickets & Chris Brice taking 3.
In reply Sam Frankland topped scored with 38.

The 2nd also won picking up 16 points at Lightcliffe. We posted 192 with Matty Long top scoring with 81 and Nathan Bromby scoring 54.
Cieran Garner took 3 wickets in the hosts reply.

Today sees the 1st team at home to Pudsey Congs in the Heavy Woollen cup and the 2nd team away at Hartshead Moor in the Priestley Shield


2nd May

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Cleckheaton’s Russ Noble. Russ played in and captained Cleck’s 2nd team for a number of years and also was heavily involved with junior coaching at the club.

Our thoughts are with Russ’s family and all our friends at Cleckheaton at this sad time.

The 1st team picked up 19 pts after defeating Pudsey St Lawrence. Kez Ahmed was the pick of the bowling picking up 5 wkts as posted 161 for 9 off their 50 overs.
In reply Kieran Collins finished 76 not out & Tim Jackson 67 not out to secure the win.

The 2nd also recorded a win. The visitors were restricted to 91 all out with Kieran Roger taking 4 wkts and Jack Bleazard taking 3.
Nick Rushworth top scored with 38 as we reached our target for the loss of 6 wickets

The 2nd team have been drawn away to New Farnley in the Crowther Cup. 

The winners of our postponed Shield cup tie with Hartshead Moor have been drawn at home to Pudsey St Lawrence


25th April

Our winter project is now finalised with the complete refurbishment of the clubhouse and a new extension added, to house a new kitchen and disabled toilet facility. 

The amazing transformation from strip out to fit out has been undertaken by Sim Fit Out.

Many thanks to Managing Director Iain Wardlaw & Project Managet Rich Pyrah of Sim Fit Out for all their professional help, knowledge and guidance and all their contractors for delivering such a fantastic result which wouldn’t have been achieved without them.

The 1st team secured a 129 run win against Wakefield Thornes in the Heavy Woollen cup. We post 240 with runs for Tom Clee 62, Tim Jackson 52, Brad Schmulian 42, Liam Collins 41 & Kieran Collins 30. Brad was the pick of the bowlers picking up another 4 wickets.

The 1st team secured 19 points with a win against Pudsey Congs. Batting first we posted 212 for 6 with Tom Clee top scored with 64, kieron Collins 60 not out and Sam Frankland 43 were the other main contributors. Brad Schmulian was the pick of the bowlers picking up 3 wickets.

Today the 1st are back in action at home to Wakefield Thornes in the Heavy Woollen cup  (game starts at 12)
